FIRST DIOCESE TO USE This is my body

Lancaster is the first diocese in the country to take on This is my body in its primary schools. "I am happy that I can wholeheartedly recommend this programme to all the primary schools here," said Canon Luiz Ruscillo, Director of Education.

"This diocese was privileged to be part of the development of this programme," said Canon Luiz. "Reaction from schools so far is that they are delighted with the quality of the materials, which were written by teachers for teachers. “The reason I believe this programme is the right one for Catholic Schools is because it is based on two fundamental principles of education. Firstly, parents are the first educators of their children; this programme encourages and helps the parents to fulfil this role with the support of the school. Secondly, any teaching about sex and relationships must be in the context of life; this programme has the awe and wonder of the beginnings of every human life at its core.”

Canon Luiz went on to say, "This is my body offers so much to the children in our schools. They develop a real appreciation of what it means to be loved as a child of God; the most important relationship in their lives. And I am confident that this scheme provides a lifelong foundation for children in their understanding of life and love."
